истКрупная стачка рабочих-сталелитейщиков, произошедшая в поселке Хомстед [ Homestead] Пенсильвания 2 июля - 20 ноября 1892, одно из наиболее кровопролитных столкновений в истории профсоюзного движения. Организована Объединенным профсоюзом рабочих железорудной, сталелитейной и оловянной промышленности [Amalgamated Association of Iron, Steel and Tin Workers] после отказа профсоюза принять предложения руководства сталелитейного завода "Хомстед (стил) уоркс" [Homestead (Steel) Works] о сокращении зарплаты и провала последующих переговоров. 6 июля охрана завода, нанятая через Национальное детективное агентство Пинкертона [ Pinkerton National Detective Agency], открыла огонь по пикетам рабочих. В результате погибли и были ранены несколько десятков человек. 10 июля губернатор штата привлек к наведению порядка и охране штрейкбрехеров национальную гвардию [ National Guard]. Стачка напрямую повлияла на результаты президентских выборов 1892, ее результаты способствовали переизбранию Г.
